My First Jackfruit

August 21, 2019

I’m pretty sure that you already know that this is a Jackfruit since it’s in the title. The look of it is not pleasant at all, I know.

After speaking with my child’s storyteller, she expressed her desire for a jackfruit and how delicious it taste. The way she described it made me want to eat some. Also, I was curious to know where to purchase one. The storyteller stated the Farmer’s market was a great place.

After a week, I went to the Dekalb Farmer’s Market. I believe that it is the biggest and the best one here in the state of Georgia. I grabbed a cart then went shopping. When I went to check out. I found out that the uncut jackfruit cost $20. Immediately, I wanted to put it back but I was so curious to know how it taste. Surprisingly, I could have asked an employee to cut it in half instead of purchasing a whole one.

The first time I saw it, really discouraged me, to the point that I did not want to buy it. When I first cut it open, it was a sticky situation. No matter how often, I cleaned the knife, it stayed extremely sticky and using oil on the knife did not help in my opinion.

Most people who are vegans use Jackfruit in several of their dishes. As for me, I like it in its natural form. Im thankful that I tried something new and it tasted good. When you get time, you should try it.

Have a Bodacious and Miraculous Day!
