I Received Some Of My Mother’s Blessings

It’s Thankful Thursday!

I feel compelled to share this testimony after my pastor’s sermon this past Sunday. I so appreciate the truth that he spoke and his demonstrations. Bishop Dale C. Bronner talked about blessings being past down to your children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the next generations in your immediate family.

Some of the things that people pray for may not be revealed in their life but their off-spring.
I can relate to what my pastor said about blessings being past down to your children because I received some from my mother.

I honestly prayed that I would meet great people when I moved to Virginia and continued to pray after I was finally settled. It was really hard living away from my mother while in a new state with no family near. We had a great relationship and I loved her dearly and showed it with my actions.

I was determined to meet new people and learn how to get around. After pondering, I signed up and received training by volunteering in the gift shop at Chesapeake General hospital. I did the same thing in Georgia at Wellstar Kennestone hospital in Cobb county. I enjoyed both of them while giving bodacious customer service to each individual including staff.

At a very challenging time in my life I met this black woman in Virginia. There were so many things that my child and I needed while living in a new state and not knowing anyone. This wonderful woman saw our needs then stepped up as a loving servant of God and filled them without asking for anything in return. She was very understanding and treated us like family.

She allowed her light to shine so bright and she has always stayed humble and never boast about the things she did. I knew from the moment that I met her that God had blessed me and was using her as loving servant.

I never abused her love and was so grateful for her nice gestures. In returned I was being taught on how godly women operate. Godly women operate out of love, care and concern and the positive list goes on. They take action to give God the glory and help others to do the same.

This woman in Virginia is a very loving mother, wife and friend who can cook and bake delicious meals. In addition, she serves in ministry at her church. She volunteers with the love of God. Her voice is so upbeat every time I hear from her, it makes me smile.

I expressed some of my desires as a speaker, this black woman listened and encourage me to join a Toastmaster club after I moved back to Georgia. I thought Toastmaster’s was a wine drinking club or something along that line. She did not mine laughing and explaining to me that Toastmaster’s is a speaking organization. I can’t wait to share the complete story in a book.

I’m so extremely thankful for the wonderful encounters that my daughter and I had with this woman. When my mother was alive she asked to speak with my loving friend that I called my Virginia mom. My mother had a honest loving conversation with her and thanked her for helping me because she was so far away in the state of Georgia.

. Soon after, my mother told me that I was receiving some of her blessings because of the way God was moving in my life. I did not fully understand what she meant at the time. Now it makes so much sense. The fact that my pastor broke it down for me with laughter was even better.

My pastor gave a demonstration of how parents give encouragement and instructions to their children. He took out a blue balloon then started blowing it up. By the way, he had on a very nice blue suit too. After each small breathe of air into the balloon, he made a statement.

For example, You will succeed! Never give up! You are blessed! Push through this! You are beautiful! All things are working for your good! These were not his exact words but are related to what was said. Many people laughed when he deflated the balloon, only a little bit while stating that some parents don’t need to pump their children up because of them being big headed Then I laughed.

I’m very thankful for meeting a woman of great character and all the things that did work out for me while we lived in Virginia. I’m very thankful that the Speaking with Power Toastmaster club helped me to improve, including the direction from a black woman who wants me to succeed in my goals in life. I’m very thankful and it makes me feel so good that my mother was there with me for my first ice breaker speech. I could always depend on my mother for loving support and constructive criticism.

I’m so extremely thankful for the blessings that were passed down to me from my mother. It’s so many to mention. I will save them for the book that I will write in the future. Now I understand that some of my blessings will be passed down to my children, my grandchildren, my great-grandchildren. I can’t wait to smile and see them succeed. It’s a blessing to know that prayer goes a long way.
