A Black Man Named Charity

HALLELUJAH! I GIVE GOD THE GLORY, HONOR AND PRAISE! I’M THANKFUL!

Many years ago, a black man named Charity helped me on the side of the road. I feel the need to acknowledge this man because he showed me real compassion, sincerity, and never complained. God placed this incident with Charity on my mind today. I hope and pray that I can find Charity or somehow he reads this blog post and respond. I would love to interview him for my book.

In addition, he was late for work because of me on that day. I hope and pray that he is blessed beyond measures. His act of kindness towards me will never be forgotten. THANKS AGAIN CHARITY! God is so funny, He sent a real black man named Charity to help me in the ATL.

At the time, I was a hard working single mother of a beautiful little girl named Porsche. I worked at Bank of America as a Teller. I had just gotten off work. My gas tank was on E but I kept driving hoping and praying that I would make it to the gas station. I was driving on 285 in Atlanta, walking distance from exit 7 then my car cut off. At the time, I was driving a pink or turquoise Chevorolet Cavalier. I can’t remember if it was before or after I painted my car pink. By the way, that’s my favorite color. I got out of my car in my two piece suit and high heels then started walking towards exit 7.

God used an amazing man with a big heart. After walking for a few minutes Charity pulled over to help me. I was reluctant at first but he assured me that he was good and somehow God allowed me to feel safe. He asked If I had a gas container. I said, No! He stated that it was okay because he would take me to Home Depot to get one. He purchased everything including the gas then brought me back to my car. He did not even try to get my number or anything. I asked him if I could write him out a check to pay him back. He accepted my Bank of America check and cashed it too. I’ve forgotten his last name. I’ll never ever forget his loving kindness and his extra extended actions to help me.

I laugh at myself now. It was not funny in that moment, God came through again for me. God did not send a counterfeit but a real authentic person with a heart. No strings attached or what’s in it for me mentality. My earnest prayer reached heaven and God sent me a black man named Charity. Have you ever been on E and someone came to help you? Are you the person that helped someone in need? Good people still exist today.

Have a Bodacious and Miraculous Day!
